Aggreko has expanded their service package for the wind industry including battery storage to bridge grid interconnection and optimise market integration of wind power.
The 1-MW-system, designed by Younicos, will dynamically balance power from the offshore Hywind wind farm. Younicos parent Aggreko provided power both during the installation of the battery system and of the wind farm itself.
Gold Fields’ Granny Smith mine will be equipped with 7.3MW solar plant and a 2MW/1MWh battery, integrated with an existing 21MW gas power station. Rental project marks first time Aggreko incorporates battery storage into a hybrid power system.
Global wind developers and operators can choose from a suite of Aggreko temporary power solutions, including energy storage systems from its microgrid and energy storage division, Younicos.
A 7.3 MW solar array and 2 MW/1 MWh battery will be added to the Granny Smith gold mine in Western Australia’s Eastern Goldfields region. The system will be provided by Aggreko and Younicos, under a ‘microgrid-as-a-service’ business model.
Equinor revealed that Batwind has been completed and the 1 MW battery provided by Younicos, and located at an onshore substation, will now be able to dynamically balance power from the offshore wind farm.
